This, the fifth operation, was fairly major. The procedure would involve removing a portion of my Skull, about the size of a CD. Then removing enough skin & tissue from my right thigh (down to the muscle), to cover the hole. The next step was to attach a blood supply to this tissue to keep it alive. This was done from a vessel in front of my left ear stiched up the side of my head & plummed into the flap. Then to cover up the donor site for this flap, they took skin from the inside of the same thigh & grafted it over the exposed musle. This was done in October 2008.

The tape on the side reads "do not lay on this side". This was so the blood supply wouldn't be interupted.... Umm it's on the side of my head, how am I supposed to read it ??
A dopla is a device used to check your pulse. Nurses woke me up every 15 minutes for the entire night to check the pulse on the flap to ensure it was alive...How annoying.....
