Waiting to go in for surgery (the surgeons had allowed 8 hours for the procedure) The plan was to remove the infected bone & replace it with muscle from near my left shoulder.
During the surgery they discovered several of the silk sutures used to hold the bone flap in from the tumour operation were infected. Rather than exise the bone they drilled / ground out the sutures & surrouding infection.
Then they sliced across my forehead & pushed the skin up to cover the the infected skin that had been removed. This left a large piece of bone exposed,
Plastic surgeons then removed skin from my left thigh & grafted it to my forehead.
My leg was quite sore & I struggled to walk for several weeks .
I turned 37, 2 days after my surgery.....
